The back is one of the most traumatized areas of our body and as naturally follows this issues a wide variety of conditions. But this is one of the predicaments that modern man has to accept as our contemporary lifestyle and, as trends predict, our future one as well, is not quite compatible with our body structure, metabolism and thus needs.

The essential oils that can alleviate the back pains have anti-inflammatory properties and the ability to warm the skin area, permeate the cells and increase the blood flow this way reducing the inflammation, ease the tension on the muscles and joints. But moreover they also affect the mind and the overall emotional flow, soothing and relieving the troubling agitation. The action of the essential oils is the congregated effort of the complex chemical orchestration of compounds and its effectiveness is tributary specifically to this strategy of working on more than one aspect at once.

Marjoram oil is warming and emotionally calming, basil oil works wonders on tight muscles, eucalyptus has powerful anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, ginger is recommended for arthritis and rheumatism, lavender is one strong diffuser of stress and restlessness. Besides these, you can also use peppermint, rosemary, geranium, thyme, nutmeg, niaouli, camphor, chamomile, sage.

Here are 3 mix recipes for back pain:

Peppermint + rosemary + basil

Lavender+ eucalyptus + ginger

Rosemary + sage + marjoram

For each combination, use 10 drops of each essential oil with 2 tablespoons of carrier oil. Best way to apply the oils is through massaging the affected area, in a circular motion, until it’s absorbed by the skin.

Tips: you can use a loofah with a longer tail to better massage yourself. One very effective addition is ice - it’s most helpful for those suffering of sciatica or lumbago pains, its cooling action decreases the inflammation.
