Aloe Vera: The Miracle Plant

Honestly speaking aloe vera is an amazing gift of God for human beings. It is a natural miracle herb. It is being used for centuries and is also famous in these days as well. The reason behind this is its special composition. Medical science has also testified its usefulness for health.

Before we jump to its benefits and usage, let’s have a brief introduction of the aloe vera plant for the sake your better understanding.

About the Plant

Aloe Vera is a succulent plant. It belongs to the family of onion and Garlic, but its plant is highly different from them. It mostly grows in a warm climate. It is a short-stemmed plant with fleshy horny leaves. Aloe vera plant has following parts:

1- Aloe vera roots:

Roots of aloe vera are not so deep in the soil. Aloe vera roots are more like threads and strings spreads in the soil like a worm. These tiny roots are good enough to provide water and nutrients to the plant.

2- Aloe Vera stem: Aloe vera has extremely short stem. It is so short that it is often regarded as a stemless plant. It can hardly be seen. It appears as leaves are growing from roots. The stem can only be seen after cutting its leaves at the base.

3- Aloe vera leaves: Leaves form a major part of the plant. Its leaves are thick, fleshy and horny. Aloe vera leaf has three layers.

*The outer layer is hard and is protective in function. It synthesizes protein for the plant.It is slightly bitter in taste but good for natural chemical protection of animals.

*The middle layer has laxative, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and painkiller properties.

*An innermost layer of the plant is most fleshy one; its major component is water which forms 99% of it. And along with that vitamin, minerals, proteins and lipids are present in trace amount.

4- Stalk and flower: In the spring season, a stalk of aloe vera grows in the center of the plant. TubuTubular flowers appear on it that holds seeds in it. These seeds are capable of developing into a full plant.

Composition of aloe vera

Aloe vera is a gift of God. It is ideal in its composition. Its major component is water that makes almost 99% of it. The remaining 1% is made up of various essential nutrients. These nutrients are;

Vitamins:

Aloe vera is rich in vitamins. Among these, vitamin C is top of the list. Aloe vera also contains Vitamin E that is good for hair and skin. It also contains a small amount of vitamin A. These vitamins are antioxidants in nature and help to neutralize free radicals naturally. Vitamin B12 and folic acid are good for gut and help in digestion.

Minerals:

Aloe vera contains calcium, copper, chromium, iron, potassium, magnesium, sodium, and zinc. Most of them are required by various enzymes for their proper functioning. Few of them are anti-oxidants.

Sugars:

Aloe vera contains monosaccharaides and polysaccharides. These sugars serve as anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory in nature. Hormones: It provides hormones that promote wound healing and inhibit inflammation.

Amino acids:

Aloe vera is rich in amino acids. Few of them are essential amino acids. These are a precursor for protein synthesis while healing thus reduces inflammation and promotes healing.

Enzymes:

Aloe vera has several different kinds of enzymes. Some of the enzymes reduce inflammation of the skin. While other enzymes play a significant role in the breakdown of fats and sugar.

Steroids:

It gives steroids that are good for treating inflammation, fever and pain.

Anthraquinones:

These are commonly known as laxatives. They help to protect against virus, bacteria and fungus. It is also anti-inflammatory in nature.
